Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 9, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how holyparadox.com (“we”, “us”, or “the site”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you visit and interact with our website. We process personal data in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

1. Who is responsible

The site operator is the data controller for personal data collected through this website. You can reach us via our contact page.

2. Information we collect

Newsletter

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address, the language you used, when you gave consent, the wording of the consent you accepted, and whether you confirmed your subscription. We use double opt-in: we do not send newsletters until you click the confirmation link in the first email. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in each newsletter or via the unsubscribe link in the confirmation flow.

Comments and sign-in

To leave comments, you sign in with your email address via a one-time magic link. We store your email, a display name you choose (which becomes locked after first use), and timestamps related to sign-in. Comments you submit are stored for moderation and, if approved, published with your display name. Newsletter signup during comment registration is optional and separate — it follows the same double opt-in process as the footer signup.

Ratings

Page ratings are stored without tying them to your email. We may store a hashed identifier derived from your network connection to limit duplicate ratings and abuse.

Contact

When you contact us by email, we receive the information you choose to send (such as your email address and message content) so we can respond.

Technical data

Like most websites, our hosting and email providers may process server logs and metadata (such as IP addresses) as part of delivering the service. Where we store a hash of your IP address for abuse prevention, it is not used to identify you directly.

3. Legal basis and purpose

  • Newsletter: your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). You may withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing.
  • Comments and sign-in: your consent when you request a sign-in link and submit a comment, and our legitimate interest in operating a moderated discussion (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a) and (f)).
  • Abuse prevention: legitimate interest in keeping the site secure (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
  • Contact: steps taken at your request before entering a contract or our legitimate interest in responding to inquiries (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b) or (f)).

4. How we use your information

  • Provide and improve our website and content
  • Send newsletters only to confirmed subscribers who opted in
  • Authenticate commenters and moderate comments
  • Respond to contact inquiries
  • Prevent abuse, spam, and duplicate actions

5. Processors and transfers

We use trusted service providers to run the site. These may process personal data on our behalf:

  • Sanity — content management and storage of subscriber, visitor, and comment data
  • Resend — transactional email (sign-in links, newsletter confirmation, and newsletters)
  • Hosting provider — serving the website

Where data is transferred outside the EU/EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses offered by our providers.

6. Retention

  • Newsletter data is kept while you are subscribed, or as needed to document consent. If you unsubscribe, we retain minimal records to honour your choice.
  • Comment and visitor data is kept while needed to operate comments and moderation.
  • Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to handle your inquiry.

7. Your rights

Under GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion, subject to legal obligations
  • Withdraw consent (e.g. unsubscribe from the newsletter)
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

To exercise these rights, contact us via our contact page.
